In order to set up a conditional question in your survey, you need to use the ‘Relevant’ function inside the excel sheet while creating your survey using Survey 123 Connect. Please, refer to this document to understand how to use the relevant function in Survey 123.

You can also use the ‘If’ function to populate the answer based on the response from an earlier question. ‘If’ function is basically used if the answer to an upcoming question is based on the condition of the previous question. Using if(condition, a, b) returns ‘a’ if the condition is true; otherwise, returns ‘b’. Under the ‘calculate’ column of the excel sheet, you need to write the code in the following structure:

selected(${question_one}, ‘yes’), ‘good’, ‘bad’)

In this case, if the respondent answers ‘yes’ to the first question, the answer for the next question will automatically be ‘good’, and if the respondent answers other than ‘yes’ in the first question, the answer for the next question will automatically be ‘bad’.
