RESUMEN

This activity prompt will guide trainers through a participatory activity to understand the various vector data types and how they are presented in real life scenarios.

MATERIALES

Aerial photographs (Printed hardcopies or projected on a screen)
Rotafolio
Assorted marker or pens

INSTRUCCIONES

1. Explain the purpose of this activity and divide the participants into groups. Cada grupo debe tener al menos 3 personas con igual representación de género, si es posible.

2. Project or give each group the aerial photos provided.

3. Actividad: Ask each group to discuss amongst themselves and note down on flipcharts the following:

una. The context of the map, giving reasons as to the the context of the area presented in the map (urban or rural)
si. Imagine you were to digitize the aerial photos: in each photo, giving reasons, identify what you would capture as: a line; a point; a polygon.

4. Each group should have a representative who will take notes of the group discussions.

5. Deje tiempo para preguntas para cada presentación grupal..

6. Cuando todos los grupos hayan terminado su presentación, conclude by briefly explaining the difference between point, lines and polygons; and how a point might be captured as a polygon and vice versa. Suggest further resources for clarification of any open questions.

NOTAS

If there are fewer participants in this training activity, the trainer may choose to conduct the activity as a class activity.
